Environmental certification - a way to increase competitiveness

The motive for environmental certification is to increase competitiveness by obtaining the appropriate sign. Moreover, for certain groups of products, it is a factor that confirms the ability in principle to compete with other producers. Environmental certification is mandatory for organizations that use environmentally polluting technologies, and for enterprises of the defense industry.

The main tasks solved by it are: observance of people's rights to safe products, assistance in the proper selection of goods, protection of manufacturers' unfair actions, improvement of the quality of goods sold in conditions of free competition.

Environmental certification serves to achievea specific goal. It stimulates the development and improvement of production. As a result of this procedure, the environmental quality parameters are confirmed. In addition, environmental certification contributes to the company's prestige. This process is clearly regulated.

Certification is not only for goods forconsumers, but also the organization's environmental management system (EMS). For this purpose, a whole set of standards has been developed, which must be met by the company under test. The SEU itself is considered a component of the company's management system, its main task is to manage environmental risks. All standards in this field are integrated into the ISO 14000 series.

In the certification process the followingobjects: activities on environmental protection management, its provision and improvement; technological redistribution causing pollution; conformity of production to requirements of ecology at its marketing, designing, manufacture, consumption and recycling.

To receive an eco-label for a product, the manufacturerit is necessary to submit a number of documents. In particular, this is a production passport, test reports, conclusions of sanitary and epidemiological supervision institutions, product samples. The procedure consists of submitting an application, signing a contract, checking, evaluating environmental purity, registering and issuing a certificate. Its effect can be suspended if any non-conformities are revealed during the inspection. If the prescriptions are not rectified or the product manufacturing technology deteriorates, the certificate can be revoked.
