What is Project 302?

The motor ships of Project 302 were built at VEB Shipyard in Germany. They have a German designation of 129M, and according to the Russian nomenclature they are often referred to as "Dmitry Furmanov" type vessels.

These large passenger vessels are designed for river and short sea cruises.

At the heart of the development are motor ships of the 301 series, which underwent an impressive modification and improvement.

In total, for the period from 1983 to 1991, 27motor ships of the project 302. Seven of them left the shipyards in the form in which they were originally developed, six vessels of the last years of production were subjected to modifications aimed at meeting high quality standards.

Vessel No. 28 was not completed. For a time, it was at the shipyard, where it was later dismantled.

Motor ships are currently operated in three states:

in Russia (Volga, Kama, Don, rivers and lakes of the Volga-Baltic waterway);
in Ukraine (the Dnieper);
in China (the Yangtze).

Characteristics of motor ships of project 302

The real name of this ship is "GeneralLavrynenkov. " In 2014, his cruise activities were completed. The owners had to adjust their reconstruction plans in connection with the decrease in demand for cruises along the rivers of Russia due to sanctions. But in 2016 the liner returned to the water under a new name - MS Excellence Katharina. Renaming did not happen, "Magnificent Caterina" is just a brand under which the vessel cruises.
